Our workshop at the Massachusetts FTC kickoff
We ran a workshop on custom manufacturing at the Massachusetts FIRST Tech Challenge kickoff at Andover High School.
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, we ran a workshop on custom manufacturing at the Massachusetts FIRST® Tech Challenge kickoff, held at Andover High School.
Custom manufacturing means making your own parts for the robot, with tools like a 3D printer, a laser cutter or a CNC router, instead of buying every part ready-made. FIRST Tech Challenge lets teams do this, and it matters because a custom part can be lighter and shaped to fit your design. A team can design a part, make it and fit it to the robot in a single afternoon.
After the workshop came the field reveal. Kickoff is the day FIRST reveals the new season’s game, and this year’s game is BIOBUZZ™ presented by RTX. For us, that was the most exciting part of the day.
